PURPOSE:To prevent any leakage of electrolyte by fusing the positive terminal to the sealing body through a glass sealing area and using en electrolyte-resistant adhesive to seal the periphery of the positive terminal located inside the battery case. CONSTITUTION:A spiral plate group consisting of a positive electrode 12 made of a sintered nickel plate, a negative electrode 13 made of a hydrogen-absorbing alloy and a separator 14, and a liquid alkaline electrolyte are installed in a metallic battery case 11 also serving as the negatitve terminal. Then, the case 11 is sealed with a sealing body 15, thereby assembling a sealed metal-oxide hydrogen storage battery. The negative electrode 13 is connected to the case 11 through a lead wire 20 and the positive electrode 12 is connected to a positive terminal 17 installed in the glass seal 18 of the sealing body 15 through a lead wire 19. Additionally, the inner periphery of the positive terminal 17 is sealed with an adhesive layer 21 made of polychlorotrifluoroethylene or similar material. Accordingly, it is possible to improve the life of the battery by preventing any leakage of the liquid electrolyte through the glass seal 18. |
