Propanolamine derivs. of formula (I) and (Va) and their physiologically tolerable salts are new: n=1 or 2; R=H, lower alkanoyl or phenyl-lower alkanoyl; X1=phenoxymethyl, opt. ortho mon-F or -Cl substd.; X2=lower alkyl, X1 or phenyl opt. mono-substd. by F, Cl, CF3 or lower alkoxy; Y=H or Me; Z=2-R1-thien-5-yl or 4-R11-phenyl; R1=aminomethyl (opt. mono- or di-lower alkyl substd.), COR2, -CR3=CH.(CH2)m.COR2, -CHR3-(CH2)m+1 COR2, -CHR3-(CH2)p-OH or -CR3=CH-C(Me)=CH-COOMe; R11=OH, lower alkoxy, lower alkanoyloxy, SO2NH2, benzyloxy or phenoxy (both opt. substd. by F, Cl, CF3, lower alkyl or alkoxy), R1, -O(CH2)qOH -O(CH2)qCOOR4, -O(CH2)qO(CH2)tR5 or (i) R2=OH, lower alkyl, or alkoxy, dimethylaminoethoxy, lower alkylcarbonylethyl or NH2 (opt. mono- or di-lower alkyl substd.); R3=H or Me; R4=lower alkyl; R5=H, lower alkyl or phenyl opt. para-substd. by Cl, F, CF3 or lower alkyl or alkoxy; R6 is as R5 but not H, m and p=0-6; v=2-4; q and t=1-6.
