<p>This invention relates to the field of oil extraction and makes use of acid solutions, particularly a mixture of low pH acids in which the availability of hydronium ions in the mixture can largely be controlled so that the mixture itself is not corrosive to metals and is harmless to the skin and other organic materials. The solution is formed by mixing hydrochloric, phosphoric, oxalic, citric and oleic acids with kerosene and water, and the solution obtained is then placed in contact with crude oil in such a way that the asphaltene present decomposes into lighter substances.</p> |
