Silanes (I), or organosiloxanes having at least 1 unit (II) with any other units (III) are new. In the formulae, each R = 1-7C alkoxy or alkoxyalkoxy, 1-4C alkyl, vinyl or Ph; R1 = divalent hydrocarbon contg. CH and opt. O or ether links; R2 = -CH(B)CH2 or (IV); B = OH, or (except when Y = OH or NH2) Cl or (V); a and n = 0 or 1; Y = OH or 1-4C alkoxy when a = 1, or OH or NX2 when a = 0; X = H or 1-4C alkyl; Q = OH, or 1-7C alkoxy or alkoxyalkoxy, Me, Ph; Z = H, monovalent opt. halogenated hydrocarbon; b = 0-2; and c = 0, 1 or 3.
