<p>N-(1-(2-(4-methoxy phenyl) ethyl) 4-piperidinyl) 1H-benzimidazol-2-amine of formula (I) is made by (a) reacting 4-amino N-(2-(4-methoxy phenyl) ethyl) piperidine (II) with 2-chloro benzimidazole (III) in equimolar ratio, in presence of an acid acceptor e.g. Na2CO3 or triethylamine, in isoamyl alcohol, N-methyl pyrrolidine or cresol at 150-220 deg.C to obtain (I); and (b) crystallising from ethanol or isopropanol to obtain it in pure form.</p> |
