PURPOSE:To remarkably increase life of a secondary battery by using a polyacetylene film comprising polyacetylene fibril intertwined around rod-shaped polyacetylene fibers as electrode active material. CONSTITUTION:Short fiber acetylene high polymer is pressed and degassed under a vacuum condition to obtain a porous film. The ihgh polymer consists of rod- shaped fibers having a diameter of 1-5mum and fibrils having a diameter of 200-500Angstrom , which are intertwinded around the rod-shaped fibers. The film obtained is punched and used as a positive active material and/or a negative active material to form a secondary battery. The porous polyacetylene electrode is preferable to have a pore volume of 2.6-2.9cc/g, a pore diameter of 3,500Angstrom or more, and a total pore volume of about 50%. By using this polyacetylene electrode, life of the secondary battery is increased. |
