Separately produced parts of boxless moulds, of sand or similar material, are stabilised after closing, by filling a cavity, adjacent to both parts, with a flowable, almost non-compressible substance, e.g. dried mould material. - The cavity may be between the closed halves of a horizontally parted mould and a surrounding bracing jacket. In a row of similar moulds it may be between the moulds themselves, and between the moulds and a pair of stiffening walls. - The cavity may also consist of a channel, in one or both parts, which accepts a solid guide protruding from one or both other parts.
|
