Cold gas is produced by mixing warm gas with liq. cryogen in amts. such that the liq. is vaporised, and withdrawing a cold gas. The gas is choked before entering a throughflow linear mixing zone and the cold gas is withdrawn as a slipstream at a point intermediate the upstream inlet and downstream dead end. - The distance from upstream end to dead end is at least twice that from upstream end to slipstream withdrawal point, and pref. at least four times. Gas and cryogen are e.g. nitrogen. |
