The fish-hook (3) is positioned and induced to circulate and it is guided by its shank (4) in a guide (15) that has a transverse section corresponding to the normal hook curvature (5) when the shank is placed axially in the guide channel. The guide has a slot for the passage of a hook advancer and the hook point and barb (6) circulate outside the guide. - A detector (37,38) notes if the point and barb are in the correct non-deformed hook position, and if not a selector (16) operated by the detector rejects the deformed or broken hook.
