At the bottom of a drying tower 1 of the dryer, outside air for cooling impelled by a fan 61 ascends and is humidified in contact with the grains descending in a moisture-repellent air. Then, several stages with drying sleeves E1 to E7, traversed by the grains, each mix a portion of warm air, typically at 500 DEG C, diffused by a burner 23, and a portion of the moisture-repellent air to form increasingly humid and hot air which ascends through the grains. The humid air at the top of the tower may have a humidity level of 140 g/kg and is recovered by a stage of reheating sleeves 41 and emitted outside the tower. The recovered humid air can reheat the outside air circulating towards pre-drying stages E9, E10 through a heat exchanger 27. <IMAGE>
