<p>The device comprises a protruding ring 94) capable of automatically engaging in a hook (54) placed at the end of an articulation (52 - 46) which is capable of pivoting on a support component (5). The protruding ring is fixed to the frame (2) of the door, the support component (5) and the other components which are attached thereto being placed at the edge of the leaf of the door. When the door is opened, the latter is locked in an ajar position. This blocking may be prevented either from the inside by slightly pulling the edge (56) towards oneself, or from the outside by acting on the sliding component (29). As soon as the door is closed again, the ring (4) again engages in the hook (54), and next time the door is opened the device will automatically assure safe locking. The device may also be completely taken out of service by opening the component (52) until the edge (56) remains hooked behind the edge (6a) of the support component.
