The present invention relates to the field of means for cooking food outdoors, by means of wood, charcoal or similar fuel. A device according to the invention is characterised in that it consists of a parallelepipedal enclosure 1, open on its front face, its upper wall 5 being provided with an orifice 8 permitting the adaptation of a chimney (funnel) 9 for discharging smoke, and its lower wall 2 with an orifice for combustion air entry, closed by a removable grid 7', called the deashing grid; it also consists of a container 10, called the fire basket, which is covered with wire netting on its two large faces, and is intended to hold the fuel and to divide the volume of the enclosure into two equal compartments, thus allowing cooking of the food via radiative heat transfer.
