A press for cheeses in moulds with covers which are free to be pushed down to apply pressure to the cheese. The press is of the type which has several parallel, horizontal conveyor bands to convey lines of cheese moulds beneath corresp. longitudinal, pressing platens. Each conveyor band is carried upon a horizontal bed which extends beneath a press structure on which the power units of the press are mounted. Each pressing platen extends over several moulds to apply pressure simultaneously to all their covers. Upper surface of each conveyor band is covered with a layer of flexible, elastic material e.g. foam rubber.
