PURPOSE:To prevent the occurrence of knocking and to enable improvement of thermal efficiency, by a method wherein a combustion chamber is formed in a cylinder head, and a compession part is located in a protruding manner on the top wall of a piston positioned opposite to the combustion chamber. CONSTITUTION:A compression part 8, located in a protruding manner on a top wall 9 of a piston 4, is forcibly moved in a combustion chamber 6 when the piston 4 is arrested by an under surface 7 of a cylinder head. A combustion starting flame in a compression chamber 10 is injected into the combustion chamber 6 through a narrow part 11. A water chamber 14, communicated to a suction port 12 and an exhaust port at the interior of a cylinder head 2, is provided. Cooling water is circulaed through a water chamber 14 and a through- hole 15 to a water chamber 5 by means of a radiator, high temperature combustion is caused through injection and combustion of flame from a compression chamber 10, and swirl is produced to promote combustion. This enables prevention of the occurrence of knocking and improvement of thermal efficiency. |
