PURPOSE:To improve the picture quality by performing the forecasting and reconstruction of the output picture element's density level based on the density level of four reading picture elements around the read-in picture element region including the output picture element. CONSTITUTION:The picture image is sampled in such a way that the picture element density in the x direction may be Mx and the density in the y direction to be My respectively, and thus picture element Si and Sj are read in. And picture element Oij(n) is delivered, where n is 1, 2, 3 and 4. In this case, the picture element density of the x direction becomes 2Mx, the element density of the y direction is 2My, and the whole picture element density becomes 2 X 2 times as high as element Si and Sj. And accordingly, the density levels of output picture elements Oij(1), Oij(2), Oij(3) and Oij(4) are decided based on the density levels of horizontal picture elements Si, Sj-1, Si and Sj+1 plus vertical picture elements Si-1, Sj, Si+1 and Sj of sampling picture element Sij. |
