The blunt edge of a blade, which is heated to a temp. slightly less than the melting point of the film material used for the paper pattern (3), is passed over it following the lines of the pattern. The combination of the blade and the heat softens the material edges and results in cutting the film material. The cut film material, representing the pattern, is then removed from its supporting mesh. This process allows paper patterns to be produced by relatively unskilled operatives. |
