PURPOSE:To enable an optical disk for recording and reproduction with a high recording capacity to be manufactured easily and inexpensively, by using a photosensitive polymer for a recording material and controlling the degree of change in the chemical structure of the polymer through regulating the irradiation time or output of high energy rays such as UV rays. CONSTITUTION:For example, when a copolymer of phenyl methacrylate (PMA) is irradiated with UV rays with wavelengths of shorter than 350nm, it shows a rearrangement as represented by formula (1), and a new absorption band based on the structural change appears at about 330nm. Since the absorbance associated with the appearance of the new absorption band can be controlled by regulating the output of the rays or the irradiation time, it is possible to record information by using laser light, and by using laser light having the same wavelength as that of the recording laser light, it is possible to reproduce the information. The recording material is advantageous to a conventional optical disk material regarding cost, since it can be formed into a film more easily than the conventional one. In addition, since analog informaton can be easily recorded by recording while varying the power of recording laser light, an optical disk having a recording capacity higher than that of a conventional one can be obtained. |
