PURPOSE:To provide an ink jet recording material excellent in water base ink receptivity and clearness of recorded images, by providing an ink-holding layer comprising a hydrophilic resin absorbent of water base inks and an ink-permeable layer comprising a water-resistant polyurethane resin. CONSTITUTION:The ink-holding layer provided on a base is formed mainly of a hydrophilic resin receptive of water base inks. Preferred examples of such a resin include albumin, gelatine, polyamides and polyacrylamides. The ink-permeable layer comprises a polyurethane resin having hydrophilicity comparable or inferior to that of the resin constituting the ink-holding layer, and is provided as a thin layer with such a thickness as to permit water base inks to substantially penetrate therethrough, the thickness being generally not larger than about 10mum, preferably, about 0.1-5mum. A polyurethane resin material useful for forming the thin layer is an addition polymer of a polyisocyanate compound and a compound having at least two active hydrogen atoms in its molecule, e.g., a polyol, a polyamine or a polycarboxylic acid. |
