PURPOSE:To facilitate dismantle of the exhaust system and enhance easiness in maintenance works by furnishing an exhaust passage block between the undersurface of cylinder head, which shall be arranged in the back part of engine, and the oversurface of an extension part protruded backward from the upper part of the extension case. CONSTITUTION:A vertical 4-cycle engine E as an outboard engine includes a crank case 20 (20a, 20b) fixed to the oversurface of an extension case 7, a cylinder block 22 connected to one end of this crank case 20, and a cylinder head 23 fixed to the end face of this block 22. Here an exhaust passage block 35 is provided between the undersurface of said cylinder head 23 and the oversurface of an extension part 37 protruded backward from the upper part of the above- mentioned case 7. The exhaust system is composed of an exhaust port 29 formed at the cylinder head 23, an exhaust passage 33 formed in the exhaust passage block 35, and an exhaust conduit 38 formed in the extension part 37, wherein the last named is to put the exhaust passage as second named 33 in communication to that hollow part 7a of case 7 which is leading to the exhaust hole. |
