PURPOSE:To prevent the cooling of a molten metal and to produce a thin metallic film having uniform material quality in the stage of producing the thin metallic film from the molten metal by a cooling drum under rotation by providing a heater and cap to a gate contg. the molten metal. CONSTITUTION:The cooling drum 1 which rotates toward an arrow direction around the horizontal shaft and is internally cooled with water is installed in proximity to one side face of the gate 2 consisting of side walls 2b, 2c, a bottom wall 2a and a cap 2d at the top wall provided with a nozzle 7 for pouring the molten metal. The molten metal poured from the nozzle 7 into a pouring basin 3 for the molten metal sticks and solidifies in the form of the thin metallic film 4 to the outside circumferential part of the drum 1 under rotation and is thereafter stripped from the drum 1 by a scraper 5, by which the thin metallic film is continuously produced. The heating element 8 such as electric heater is embedded to the side walls 2b, 2c and the bottom wall 2a of the gate 2 in this case by which the heating of the molten metal is made possible. The radiational cooling of the molten metal is prevented by installing the top wall 2b. The thin amorphous or ultrafine crystalline metallic film having always the uniform material quality is thus continuously produced. |
