<p>A rotary shell for receiving and sepg. centrifugally a solid matter/fluid mixt., encloses a spiral worm rotating with it on a common axis, which moves the sepd. solid matter axially and parallel to the centreline of the centrifuge. Means are provided for driving the shell and the transporter at different speeds, and abrasion resistant surface assemblies are fixed to the transporter on an external spiral rib. Each assembly includes a shock absorbing buttress fixed to the rib and an abrasion resistant detail fixed mechanically to the buttress and separated from the transporter. The working life of abrasion resistant transporters used i n centrifuges is prolonged by reducing to a min. the residual tensions in the assemblies fixed on the outer edge of the transporter, and by isolating the wear resistant material from the dynamic tensions set up in the transporter during centrifuging.</p> |
