An appropriately plate shaped construction system includes components (1,1') which are connected together in a detachable manner by means of clamps (8,8', 9,9') which grip each other. Between the two components, a wedge (16) is contained in a recess (15). The effect of the wedge (16) is to push the components apart and thereby create engagement between the clamps which becomes stronger the greater the said effect is. The wedge is fitted with a locking device consisting of sprung tongues (18) which, when the wedge is driven into the recess (15), automatically fasten the wedge in it, in that the tongues move into an opening (20) and establish a locking effect with the opening's edges (21).
