PURPOSE:To aim at reducing shocks upon selection of speed ranges, by controlling an engine such that the rotational speed of the engine is temporarily lowered just after the engine is changed over from its neutral range to its drive or reverse range upon idle operation. CONSTITUTION:An idle-rotational speed control device comprises a discriminating means 11 for discriminating the idle operating condition of an engine in accordance with the outputs of an accelerator opening degree detecting means 2 and an engine rotational speed detecting mean 1, and a computing means 12 for computing an idle rotational speed desired for the engine in accordance with the operating condition of the engine. Further, upon discrimination of the idle operating condition an idle rotational speed feed-back control means 13 controls a fuel injection pump 4 to control the amount of fed fuel so that the rotational speed of the engine is made coincident with a desired idle rotational speed. In this arrangement, when a gear shift position detecting means 10 in an automatic speed change gear unit detects such that the gear shift position is changed over into its neutral range, a compensating means temporarily lowers the desired idle rotational speed for a predetermined brief time. |
