PURPOSE:To record printing having high quality at high speed, to reduce cost and to stabilize a thermal head by forming the laminating sections of a lower layer electrode, a thin-film resistor layer and an upper layer electrode in a projecting heating resistor section having a flat upper surface. CONSTITUTION:A heat-insulating glazed layer 5 is formed onto a ceramic substrate 1. A common electrode 3 in aluminum, etc. is formed where corresponding to a heating resistor section 4, and a heating resistor layer 4A consisting of tantalum nitride, which covers the common electrode 3 and width thereof is made slightly wider than that of the common electrode 3, is shaped onto the common electrode 3. Control electrodes 2 are formed so as to cross at right angles with the common electrode 3 as the upper layer of the resistor layer 4A, and an abrasion-resistant protective layer 6 composed of tantalum pentoxide is shaped as the upper layer of the control electrodes 2. Since the heating resistor section 4 is formed not to a recessed shape but to a projecting shape at that time, thermal conductivity is improved remarkably. Since a partial glazed section is not shaped, not only the positional displacement of the heating resistor 4 due to the shape of glazing can be ignored but also the common electrode 3 is formed to the lower layer of the heating resistor section 4, thus eliminating the need for a formation on the right side of the heating resistor section 4 of a space for the common electrode 3, then miniaturizing a thermal head. |
