PURPOSE:To reduce the change of the sheet-width shape of a rolling material by moving work rolls mutually reversely in their axial directions to decrease a sliding resistance by lubricating the roll surfaces, in rolling a sheet material by the work rolls having outside contacting rolls. CONSTITUTION:Work rolls 14, 16, contacting with outside rolls 18, are cooled by the water sprayed from nozzles 28, 44 and cleaned by wipers 34, 46 when a sheet material 8 is rolled. The rolls 14, 16 are moved mutually reversely in their axial directions by a rocking mechanism. At that time, lubricants 20, 36 are fed to the roll 14, 16 surfaces, to decrease the sliding resistance between the outside contacting roll 18 and the material 8 in order to reduce the wear of roll surface. Further, the elongation resistance in the width direction of material 8 is uniformalized to reduce the fluctuation of the sheet width. |
