<p>PURPOSE:To detect the width of a sheet material by the detected receiving-quantity of light as well as the bend of said material in its advancing direction and to control well a rolling mill, by installing a pair of slit-body photodetector-parts perpendicularly to the rolling-material advancing direction containing both side ends of the material while arranging the parts in duplicate in the advancing direction. CONSTITUTION:By receiving an irradiated light 12 or a red-hot light of rolling material 11 by a pair of slit-body photodetector-parts 14 located perpendicularly to the advancing direction containing both side ends of the material 11 coming out of work rolls 13, and detecting the width of receiving light to obtain the width of material 11. Further, the bend of material 11 is detected by the difference of the light-receiving quantities at the front and rear sides, by arranging the parts 14 in the advancing direction at a fixed interval L. By the detections mentioned above; the sheet width and the uneven pass of the sheet through the rolls 13 are obtained, moreover the bend of sheet is obtained by the double detections, to control the rolling rolls 13 by balancing the rolling reduction thereby obtaining a well rolled material, which has a prescribed width and whose bend is corrected.</p> |
