PURPOSE:To reduce the bending resistance of a deposit on the throat of a converter during removal by cutting and to prevent the breaking of the throat by projecting plural grooving edges higher than an arc-shaped cutting edge and setting the edges so that they meet at nearly right angles with the trunnion of the converter. CONSTITUTION:A deposit C on the throat of a converter A is removed by cutting with plural grooving edges 7 and an arc-shaped cutting edge 6 under the tilting force of the converter A. The grooving edges 7 are projected higher than the cutting edge 6, and the edges 6, 7 are set so that they meet at nearly right angles with the trunnion 15 of the converter A. When the converter A is tilted in the direction of an arrow W, the deposit C is first cut with the grooving edges 7 and then cut with the arc cutting edge 6. |
