PURPOSE:To use a sheet of paper in arbitrary width by automatically detecting the width of the sheet of paper charged to a printer and determining the range of travelling of a printing head. CONSTITUTION:A stopper 11 is brought into contact with the end section of a sheet of paper 2 in order to regulate a floating in the left and the right directions of the sheet of paper 2 during the operation of printing after the sheet of paper 2 is charged to a mechanism section. The stopper 11 is moved in the width direction of the sheet of paper 2 and positioned in response to the width of the sheet of paper 2. The stopper 11 is constituted so as to be projected up to where facing a base 30 for a printing head 3, and a microswitch 5 is fitted where facing the base 30. The printing head 3 is reciprocated along the width of the sheet of paper 2. Accordingly, the microswitch 5 is mounted so as to be operated to an ON or OFF state by the base 30 when the printing head 3 reaches a section where the printing head 3 completes printing corresponding to one line. Either one of the ON or OFF state in the microswitch is converted into a predetermined detecting data by an input/output interface section 12, and transferred to a printing control section 9 as a paper-sheet end section information. |
