摘要 PURPOSE:To obtain an optical recording medium enabled in the almost permanent storage of recording and high density recording and having high resolving power, by forming a recording layer to either one of a non-heated substrate and a non-heated light absorbing layer by using either one of them as a substrate to be so as to provide the same as a vapor deposition film showing no light absorbing characteristic in the wavelength region of visible light. CONSTITUTION:An optical recording medium is constituted by providing a light absorbing layer and the recording layer adjacent to said light absorbing layer o a substrate, and the recording layer is formed by a vacuum vapor deposition method, which used either one of the non- heated substrate and the non-heated light absorbing layer as a vapor deposition substrate, as a vapor deposition film showing no light absorbing characteristic in the wavelength region of visible light. For example, an optical recording medium 1 is prepared by a method wherein a light absorbing layer 3 and a recordng layer 4 comprising a ZnS vapor deposition film with a thickness of about 850Angstrom are laminated to a glass substrate 2 with a thickness of about 2mm. and the recording layer 4 is formed by applying resistance heating to ZnS in a tungsten boat and forming the same to the light absorbing layer 3 by vapor deosition under such a condition that a vacuum degree is 3X10<-4> Pa and a vapor deposition is 3-5 A/S. The formation of the recording layer 4 by vapor deposition is performed by holding the light absorbing layer 3 being the substrate to be subjected to vapor deposition to ambient temp. without heating the same.
