The servo feeds a load with a variable clock pulse frequency and is synchronised with the mains voltage for full mains periods, when the voltage at a capacitor, charged with a control voltage, has reached the upper threshold value. The servo is disconnected when the voltage at a capacitor, discharged by a load-dependent voltage, has reached the lower threshold value. The upper threshold value is reached for a short period in constant time intervals. Alternately a short-term increase of the lower threshold value may be used instread of reducing the upper threshold value. Pref. the time intervals for the threshold value reduction or increase for the control of the individual servos are mutually uniformly offset.
