<p>PURPOSE:To perform the selection of a cursor position and the entry of data with a single hand and to improve the operability of a pointing device, by adding a data input device to perform the simple entry of data with no use of a keyboard at the data input side. CONSTITUTION:When a pointing device is applied to a mouse 1, a cursor position selection button 3 is provided on the upper surface of the mouse 1 together with ten keys 4 (0-9) serving as a data input position. The cursor position selection button 3 is operated when the cursor is set at a desired data input position. The mouse 1 is first shifted by a hand to set the cursor at a desired data input position. Then the button 3 is pushed. In the case of the simple entry of data just for numerical input, the desired numerical value can be supplied directly with use of the keys 4 at the side of the mouse 1 and without shifting the hand to a keyboard from the mouse 1.</p> |
