The invention relates to sailing. The control system forming the subject of the invention is characterised in that it possesses a reference value unit 16 containing the inclination value of the ship, an indicator 17 of the angle of the heel, connected to the output of the said reference value block 16 and whose output is connected to an input of an element for comparing the signals 18, the other input of which is connected to the reference value unit 16 containing the inclination value of the ship, whereas its output is connected to a power unit 15 for the inclination subsystem 8. The invention applies especially to ships having a displacement tonnage of at least one thousand gross registered tonnes, such as, for example, tankers and container ships. <IMAGE>
