A trailer for motor vehicles is described, having at least two axles and without its own drive, in particular in the manner of a semitrailer which has the two longitudinal beams customary in trailers, in each case one of the said longitudinal beams being arranged on one side of the longitudinal centre line and the two longitudinal beams being connected to one another by crossbeams, the longitudinal beams each being composed of two beams which can be detachably connected to one another, the upper sub-beams of which form the beams of the body and the lower sub-beams of which form the longitudinal beams of the vehicle, and the respective longitudinal beams in themselves not having the required rigidity values either for the body or for the vehicle but only having the said rigidity values when they are connected to one another one on top of the other.
