Chuck for cap screws and studs during the screwing-in operation, which consists of a bearing sleeve with gripping balls surrounding the shank of the screw and mounted in a radially displaceable manner in the bearing sleeve, a gripping sleeve enclosing the bearing sleeve for the gripping balls, and a screwdriver shaft which passes through the bearing sleeve and is axially displaceable relative to the bearing sleeve, the gripping sleeve being guided by means of an abutment tube which reaches into the gripping sleeve and, at its side remote from the gripping sleeve, has a first coupling part which is firmly connected to the screwdriver shaft and interacts with a second coupling part mounted on a drive shaft in such a way as to be locked against rotation but axially displaceable, which drive shaft is guided axially relative to the screwdriver shaft.
