PURPOSE:To provide the titled composition containing polyphosphoric acid radical, a specific polyvalent metal radical and carboxylic acid radical, exhibiting remarkable effect to suppress the formation of hydroxyapatite by the synergistic effect, and capable of preventing the formation of tartar. CONSTITUTION:The objective composition contains (A) a polyphosphoric acid radical, preferably condensed phosphoric acid radical or phytic acid radical (concrete examples of the compounds are potassium pyrophosphate and sodium phytate), (B) a polyvalent metal radical selected from Mg, Ba and Sr (concrete examples of the compounds are bromide, acetate, sulfate, especially chloride) and (C) carboxylic acid radical (concretely succinic acid, malic acid or lactic acid). The amounts of the components A, B and C in the composition are preferably 0.1-5(wt)%, 0.01-3% and 0.003-7%, respectively. The pH of the composition containing the components A and B is preferably adjusted to 5-7 by adjusting the amount of the component C. The addition of the component C improves the stability of the system and allows the presence of the component A stably for a long period. |
