A twisting machine is designed as a ball winder. It possesses a twisting flyer which travels round the ball axis. The ball axis is at an oblique angle to the flyer axis. A displacement drive is provided for the slow rotation of the ball 17 about the ball axis. This consists of a sun wheel 6 concentric to the flyer axis and of a driving wheel 20 which is connected operatively thereto and which rotates the ball holder. <IMAGE>
