PURPOSE:To obtain a dialkylnaphthalene from naphthalene and/or a monoalkylnaphthalene selectively, by using a crystalline aluminosilicate catalyst which is subjected to ion exchange with a metallic ion of copper, zinc, or nickel or impregnated with it. CONSTITUTION:Naphthalene or a monoalkylnaphthalene alone or a mixture of them with a lower olefin or a lower alcohol of an alkylating agent is used to a catalyst obtained by subjecting sodium or potassium ion of crystalline aluminosilicate having >=12 ratio of ailica/alumina, called ZSM-5 type, to ion exchange with at least one metallic ion selected from a group consisting of copper, zinc, and nickel or by impregnating it with the ion, to produce a dialkylnaphthalene in high sepectivity. The catalyst having reduced activity is calcined at about 600 deg.C under air circulation, so that activity is recovered and is usable repeatedly. |
