The apparatus comprises two hoops, each being extended by a semi-circular arc to form a ring. Each hoop of a ring comprises, in a groove running round the inner circumference, a tapered clamping surface, opposite which there is in each case a stop surface oriented towards the front side. The stop surface of each hoop continues in a front face on the ring. On the side facing away from the front side, each ring has a further tapered clamping surface, which is arranged opposite the clamping surface on the hoop and extends over approximately half the circumference of the arc. The apparatus comprises two parts of identical construction and, to couple hose or tube ends, one ring is arranged rotated by 180 DEG in the circumferential direction relative to the other ring and mirror-inverted. Each hoop of one ring thus extends around the semi-circular arc of the other ring, the rings or tube or hose ends connected to these being moved axially relative to one another via the tapered clamping surfaces. To provide gas-tight pressure on a seal arranged between the rings, the device comprises a clamping device with clamping screws acting transversely to the tube or hose axis. The rings are preferably firmly connected to the respective tube ends by welding.
