In such winding arrangements, prefabricated supporting means, serving for spacing and fixing the windings in a casting mould, usually remain behind as part of the insulation in the winding block. According to the invention, porous mould parts (2), each of which is itself baked together from granular, dust-free particles of inorganic material superficially wetted with a synthetic resin, serve as supporting means, and the same synthetic resin as is used for wetting the granular particles is used as the casting resin, and in the operational winding block (6) the pores in the mould parts (2) are completely filled with the casting resin. The use of these porous mould parts as supporting means in moulds for encapsulating transformer windings with casting resin is advantageous in particular when they operate in transformers with rated voltages in excess of 10 kV. The particular advantage of these porous mould parts is the electrically and mechanically high-grade bond which can be achieved within the winding block (6). <IMAGE>
