The invention relates to thermal insulation for structural walls, having a lining layer of thermal insulation, a reinforcing layer and an upper render, the reinforcing layer being free of reinforcing fabric, thin and single-layered and containing a synthetic resin binder whose plastic and elastic properties are maintained between -10 DEG and 40 DEG C, and which has a glass transition temperature of lower than -15 DEG C and an elongation at tear, at -15 DEG C, of at least 200 %. Such a reinforcing layer simplifies the production of the thermal insulation and effectively counters cracks and separations, since, in particular, in the event of the otherwise hazardous cooling processes, the stresses created by the variable heat expansion of the various layers can be absorbed into the reinforcing layer which is free of reinforcing fabric.
