PURPOSE:To seal hermetically the peripheral part of an IR transmission window plate consisting of germanium with high reliability by depositing a solderable metal by plating to said peripheral part then treating the metal. CONSTITUTION:The germanium plate 1 which is the IR transmission window plate is covered with, for example, a photoresist film 2 except the part to be plated. The plate is thereafter dipped into a plating liquid of the solderable metal, for example, nickel, copper, etc. to execute plating, thus forming a plated metallic film 3. The unnecessary plated part is then removed together with the film 2. The window plate is heat-treated in a drying furnace in an inert gaseous atmosphere in succession thereto, by which the plating metal 3 is diffused into the plate 1 and the alloy layer is formed. The plate is soldered to a vessel 5 for attaching the IR transmission window and is sealed to form the IR transmission window. The window plate is otherwise placed on the vessel 5 after the plating and while the entire part is heated, the plate is sealed to the vessel by solder 4. The IR transmission window is thus formed. |
