The winding (9) is mounted on the rotor core (2) and held between the claw pole end plates (3,4). The winding is contained in a thermally conducting case with flanges (14,15). These bear against the claw pole end plates (3,4) and extend into spaces (7,8) between the ends of the claw poles (5,6). Here the flanges (14,15) are extended as cooling vanes (18,19) which also give an increased fan action.
