The invention relates to a device for initiating a fuse serving as a primer for a rotating projectile, comprising an electrical energy source, at least one sensor of the infrared radiation emitted by a target moving relative to the projectile, electronic processing means for the signal delivered by the sensor, means making use of the signal thus processed for initiating the said fuse. The device is characterised in that the said electronic means for processing the signal delivered by the sensor comprise: - an amplifier stage 11 in the lock-on mode processing the short pulses emitted by the sensor 10 when rotating, - a differentiator circuit for shaping the analog signal given by the amplifier, including a stage limiting the duration of the said pulses, a stage 12 successively storing each of the pulses received in memory, and a stage 13 comparing the last pulse received with the preceding stored pulse, and transmitting a signal to the initiation means 14 of the said fuse as soon as the amplitude of the last pulse received is less than or equal to that of the preceding stored pulse.
