<p>A method is described for the treatment of a substantially dry composition including Factor IX or fibrinogen to reduce or eliminate the infectivity of hepatitis non-A, non-B virus, virus related Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS), cytomegalovirus or Epstein-Barr virus present in the composition, comprising heating the composition for a predetermined period of time at a temperature of at least 60 DEG C as well as a method for eliminating the infectivity of cytomegalovirus or Epstein-Barr virus from a composition including human Factor VIII. There is also disclosed a composition obtained by the inventive method, said composition being essentially free of blood clotting enzymes.</p> |
