A self-contained type pressure sensitive record sheet is prepared by coating a substrate with a mixture of microcapsules containing a color former and an inorganic solid acid as a color acceptor and drying the resulting coating, the mixture containing 10 to 30% by weight of polyvinyl alcohol based on the weight of the inorganic solid acid.
