PURPOSE:To obtain a printing plate superior in plate making aptitude and printing aptitude by incoporating carbon fibers in a conductive substrate provided with a photoconductive layer. CONSTITUTION:The photoconductive layer is formed directly on the conductive substrate contg. carbon fibers or on at least one intermediate layer formed on the substrate. Such a conductive substrare is obtained by subjecting a thermoplastic resin pulp contg. 1-30wt% carbon fibers to paper making process, drying the obtained sheet, heat treting it at a temp. same as or higher than the m.p. of the thrmoplastic resin to melt it, and forming it into a film. At least one of the intermediate layer having a surface resisitivity of <=10<9>ohm is formed on one side of the obtained conductive substrate, and on this layer the photoconductive layer is formed. A toner image is formed on the electrophotographic plate material thus obtained, the nonimage areas of the photoconductive layer are treated with an etching, soln. and the areas free from the toner are made hydrophilic to obtain a printing plate. A superior pint can be obtained by fixing such a printing plate to an offset printing machine, and printing the plate with ink and dampening water. |
