<p>PURPOSE:To obtain a manual card reader which can execute data recording, etc. with respect to an embossed code by providing a magnetic head and an in-printer in the carrying path of a tray for carrying a card provided with a magnetic stripe and the enbossed code. CONSTITUTION:When a card 12 is fitted into the fitting recessed part 20 of a tray 13 first, and subsequently, the tray 13 is pushed in, the insertion of the card 12 is detected by the first detecting sensor S1, and a timing pulse signal is transmited to a magnetic head 15. Also, in accordance with a going-motion of the tray 13, a timing disk 52 is rotated, and by synchronizing with a periodical pulse signal obtained from the third detecting sensor S3, read and write corresponding to the movement of the tray 13 are executed.
