The sitting support for sitting furniture with an upright or turning column supports the sitting surface and is used to support the backrest support etc. Known sitting supports are made of metal and are expensively lined with plastic panels. The object of the invention is to produce a more cost-effective sitting support. This object is achieved by means of a plastic bell-shaped casing (3) which is open at the top, is extruded from a single piece and the special shape of which permits it to withstand all the forces which occur. <IMAGE>
