PURPOSE:To uniformize the standing phenomenon of a developing agent, by positioning a developing agent a controlling member to the opposite side of a developing area with respect to a vertical plane passing through the central axis of a developing roller. CONSTITUTION:It is desirable to set the position of a developing agent controlling member 3 in such a way that an angle theta between the plane connecting the front end of the member 3 the central axis of a developing roller 1 and a vertical plane passing through the central axis can be set within the range of 0 deg.<=theta<= 90 deg.. Since the developing agent receives the influence of gravity in the direction shown by the arrow at the point C passing through the vertical plane even when the developing agent layer is not uniform in thickness at the section B in the vicinity of the developing agent controlling member 3, the section where the developing agent stands higher gradually moves toward the section where the agent stands lower and the height becomes almost the same at the point D. As a result, the thickness of the developing agent becomes the same at the point E just before a developing area. Therefore, picture images which are free from unevenness in density can be obtained. |
