PURPOSE:To ensure the measurement of moisture content, by applying the radiated power of a microwave to a material, utilizing attenuation caused by the passage of said radiation, thereby reducing the effect due to the fluctuation of the material to be measured. CONSTITUTION:Packed used paper is positioned between transmitting and receiving radiowave concentrating antennas 3 and 4. A microwave is oscillated by a microwave oscillator 1. Its output passes a directional coupler 2 and the radiowave energy is strengthened by the transmitting radiowave concentrating antenna 3. Thus a sharp beam is transmitted. The radiated power passes a material to be measured 8 and receives very large amount of attenuation. The signal is received by the receiving radiowave concentrating antenna 4 and detected by a detector 5. Meanwhile, the output from the microwave oscillator 1 is guided to a detector 7 from the directional coupler 2 through a variable attenuator 6. The variable attenuator is adjusted so that the indication of an indicator 10 becomes zero by using a standard sample beforehand. When the sample to be measured 8 is put in, the attenuator is adjusted again. Based on the difference between both values of attenuations, the deviation in moisture quantities is obtained. |
